Dinner raises over $3,000 for new Splash Pad

The Feb. 18 spaghetti dinner held to support a new splash pad in Wilmot attracted roughly 400 diners and raised $3,046 for the project.

The Family Day fundraiser at the New Hamburg community centre surpassed the goals set by its planning committee, said “Bring a Splash Pad to Wilmot” organizer Angie Hallman.

Plans for new Wilmot splash pad moving forward

Advocates for a new splash pad in Wilmot are hoping to raise $3,000 for the project with a community spaghetti dinner on Feb. 18.

The Family Day meal will include spaghetti, salad, roll and desert and coffee, with drinks and baked treats for sale.

This is the first official fundraiser for the splash pad, said organizer Angie Hallman. She’s hoping for 250 people to come and give a donation of their choice.

Every parent without access to a backyard pool knows the lure of the splash park in 30 C heat.
 

The colourful structures that squirt, cascade and gush refreshing, clean water to the delight and excitement of children have become must-have park features in many communities.
